Buffalo nickels are beloved for their truly American design.  Designed by renowned sculptor James E. Fraser, the obverse features a proud Native American Chief, while the reverse depicts Black Diamond, a famous buffalo of the Central Park Zoo.

The 1938 Denver Buffalo Nickel is a noteworthy and collectible coin, marking the final year of the Buffalo Nickel series, which ran from 1913 to 1938. Struck at the Denver Mint, this coin features the iconic design by sculptor James Earle Fraser, with a Native American portrait on the obverse and an American bison, or buffalo, on the reverse.

As the last issue of this series, the 1938-D is highly sought after by collectors, and it was produced in relatively low quantities compared to earlier years, with a mintage of just over 7 million. This coin represents the end of an era in U.S. coinage, as the Buffalo Nickel was replaced by the Jefferson Nickel later in 1938. Upon the explained test(s) results, nondefective items may be subject to a 20% restocking fee.
