This 2021 Christa McAuliffe Silver Dollar was issued to pay tribute to McAuliffe and the six astronauts that were on the Space Shuttle Challenger that exploded in the skies of Cape Canaveral, Florida on January 28th, 1986. McAuliffe was the first member of NASA's Teacher in Space Program. She was a social studies teacher and was selected from more than 11,000 applicants in 1985. Certified PCGS and graded in a perfect proof 70 grade, this coin also contains the Emily Damastra signature label.

Despite her brief time in the public eye, McAuliffe is remembered as a symbol of the possibilities and aspirations of ordinary people and continues to inspire future generations to pursue careers in education and science.
