The coin features a portrait of Geta on the obverse, providing a rare surviving likeness of a historical figure whose image was later targeted for removal. Following Geta’s murder in AD 211, the Roman practice of damnatio memoriae resulted in the deliberate erasure of his likeness from monuments and other public representations.

The reverse depicts pagan deities and religious imagery, reflecting the political, military, and religious themes of the Roman world during Geta’s lifetime. His coinage is particularly significant because ancient coins preserve some of the few surviving contemporary portraits of Geta, making them valuable historical artifacts as well as collectibles.
