Discover a fascinating piece of early American coinage with the Three Cent Silver, one of the smallest silver denominations ever struck by the United States Mint. Produced from 1851 to 1872, these unusual coins were originally introduced in part to help Americans conveniently purchase postage stamps.

Designed by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver James B. Longacre, the Three Cent Silver became a familiar sight in everyday commerce. Its small size and silver composition made it practical for the era, while its unusual denomination makes it a standout addition to any collection.

These coins also carry a connection to one of the most important periods in American history, as Three Cent Silvers were struck and circulated during the Civil War era. Each coin is offered in collectors quality circulated condition, giving you the opportunity to own an authentic piece of 19th-century U.S. history with genuine signs of circulation.

For collectors, part of the appeal is the variety and character found in these historic coins. Dates and appearance will vary, and some examples may display a darker complexion, which is common for Three Cent Silver coins; individual pieces may range from approximately VF to XF condition.
