SS Republic
The SS Republic was a Civil War-service sidewheel steamship used as a blockade runner in 1861. Carrying passengers and more than $400,000 in gold and silver coins, the vessel was struck by a hurricane and sank off the coast of Georgia.
In 2003, Odyssey Marine Exploration located the wreck approximately 100 miles offshore and recovered an estimated $75 million worth of rare Civil War-era treasure, making it one of America's most famous shipwreck discoveries.
SS Central America
Known as the "Ship of Gold," the SS Central America sank during a hurricane in 1857 while carrying passengers and approximately 30,000 pounds of gold.
The disaster claimed 425 lives and contributed to the Panic of 1857. More than 150 years later, recovery expeditions retrieved remarkable gold coins and treasure from the Atlantic Ocean floor. Today, SS Central America coins remain among the most sought-after shipwreck collectibles in numismatics.
SS Brother Jonathan
The SS Brother Jonathan sank in July 1865 after violent storms drove the vessel into the rocks near St. George Reef off Northern California.
More than 200 lives were lost, making it the deadliest maritime disaster in Pacific Coast history. After remaining undiscovered for over a century, treasure hunters recovered gold coins, bullion, and artifacts from the wreck. Today, these coins offer a direct connection to one of America's most legendary treasure stories.

In November 1942, the SS Tilawa departed Bombay carrying 732 passengers, 222 crew members, and 600 tons of cargo. Among that cargo were 2,391 silver bullion bars destined for coin production.
Near the Seychelles Islands, the ship was torpedoed by the Japanese submarine I-29 and sank beneath the Indian Ocean. For more than 75 years, its silver treasure remained hidden nearly 1.5 miles beneath the sea.
In 2017, Argentum Exploration located the wreck and recovered 2,364 of the ship's 2,391 silver bars, making it one of the most significant precious-metal recoveries in modern maritime history.
Special commemorative bullion coins, including Krugerrands and Britannias struck from the recovered silver, are featured within this release.

SS John Barry
On August 28, 1944, the SS John Barry crossed the Arabian Sea carrying a valuable wartime cargo that included millions of silver riyals destined for Saudi Arabia.
A German U-boat torpedoed the vessel, sending the ship and its cargo more than 8,500 feet beneath the surface. The wreck remained untouched for nearly fifty years.
In 1994, an American salvage team recovered more than 1.3 million silver riyals weighing approximately 17 tons, making it one of the most ambitious deep-sea recoveries of its era.
Yet the mystery remains. Rumors persist that additional silver bullion intended for the Soviet Union still lies hidden within the wreck. Today, SS John Barry coins represent not only shipwreck treasure but also an enduring wartime mystery.
